With our new Response To Intervention approach to differentiating our instruction and better meeting the learning needs of all our students, we are or should be in the process of working together to achieve this. That means schools should be working together to establish RTI teams where they come together and discuss the issues and challenges they face in their classroom and how they are using STAR data to inform their practice and make evidence based decisions in order to help their students.
I realize that implementing a new approach/policy in a school district, school, and classroom takes time. It takes time for everyone to wrap their heads around the theory and methodology of the new approach. It takes time to consider how it will be implemented at all levels. And it takes time to attempt it and practice it in order to learn what works and how it will work for us in our particular circumstance. So... all of this takes time... and I think/hope that everyone gets that piece. The important thing is that we are all willing to look at this together and find ways to collectively implement the RTI model for the benefit of students.
What I have here is a video that demonstrates how a school RTI team, under the direction of their school administrators, came together to effectively use STAR data to drive the RTI vehicle in their school. Please check out the video and consider how your schools could use STAR data more effectively and how you could come together to create a school-based RTI team.

Please do not hesitate to contact people at district office should you have any questions about how to use STAR or how to better implement RTI in your classroom or school:
Good luck and we look forward to working together to collectively improve the way in which we help our students learn.
Cheers.
