I know that it is only November, but we should already be working with our students, their writing of stories, and preparing them for success in demonstrating their mastery of the outcomes that are tested using the District Writing Assessment (DWA).
As such, I wanted to make everyone aware of the tentative dates that we have scheduled for the administration of the DWA. Like last year, we are providing an administration window for the test so that all teachers that administer it can have the time needed to ensure that all students complete it. The administration window comes after the May long weekend and when the Provincial Achievement Tests are written in English Language Arts 3, 6, and 9.

Administration Window
The administration window for the DWA (all students grades 1-9) will be from Tuesday May 19th to Thursday May 28th.
DWA Group Marking Session
Unlike last year, we have successfully allocated a district PD day to come together, provide training, and collectively mark all of the student assessments for grades one through nine. The Group Marking Session will be held on Friday May 29th this year. More details as to time, location, etc. will be made available at a later date.
Questions about DWA
I have not released General Information Bulletin (GIB) for this year's DWA yet, so if you have any questions about the DWA or its administration, please let me know. You can email me or call me at the office during business hours.
